Ingrown Pubic Hair - Get Rid Of It Now!

In today's world of fitness and fashion, it's becoming the mode (again) to have a clean and bald look at the pubic area. Why the word 'again'?

They also knew how to deal with ingrown pubic hair, so let's look at some tried and trusted ways to take care of this problem.
What is an ingrown pubic hair?
An ingrown pubic hair is one that grows at an abnormal angle and turns back into the skin, causing the formation of a pustule or papule (A small, solid inflammatory elevation of the skin that may or may not contain pus.
Also commonly known as "razor bumps"). This is unsightly and an unwanted side-effect to the bald look.
How do you get it?
There are many ways, but the most common way is to shave with a razor in the opposite direction of the natural hair growth.
The pubic hair can also be trapped beneath the skin from blockages to the hair follicle (also caused by shaving in many cases). Also the other hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, tweezing, electrolysis, often irritate the hair follicle, and the hair becomes trapped beneath the skin.
What do I do now?
There are many ways to treat it.
The best way, as in all medicine, is prevention. In Part 2 of this series we explain how to prevent ingrown pubic hair, but now you need first aid.
So here are the proven methods, some taken from the ancient Greeks and Egyptians who had the same problem 3000 years ago.
oUnderstanding that the body will try to eliminate the ingrown pubic hair itself, help it along. Go to a sauna, and when you have built up a good sweat, lightly scrub (meaning exfoliate, i.e. take off the dead skin) with a "loofa".
A loofa is a marine plant that grows in the Nile, and resembles a coarse sponge. You can find it at any store that sells bath products.
oAfter the sauna, and scrubbing, the ingrown hair may be free (due also to the dilation of the pores while in a sauna), and have a sterilized tweezers ready (the ancient method).
Pluck them out! One by one. You must stretch the skin tightly, grips the hair close to the root, and pull it out. Ouch! But it works. After each pluck, dab on some antiseptic solution.
oIf the above is not suitable for you, then you can do a three times a day compress on the affected area with a wash cloth soaked hot water (not too hot!), followed by the application of any product containing salicylic acid.
Salicylic acid is a strong exfoliating chemical that is useful to free such hair.
Ask your pharmacist to recommend such a product. There are many on the market.
oThe daily use of the compress will help the body fix the problem, but also, you can apply some baby oil mixed with Aloe Vera lotion (make it yourself).
This will keep the skin from becoming further irritated, and the Aloe Vera is a natural antiseptic which will help prevent infection at the affected site.
Of course, there are salon specialists, but their methods will be expensive, and no more effective than the above.

It is generally safe and is one of the only essential oils that can be used neat (undiluted) on the skin (in small amounts.) Tea tree oil can be used on children as young as one year old. Tea tree oil is so versatile that it should be on hand in every household. Having it on hand for other uses will prevent having to search for ingredients when dealing with a lice infestation that requires prompt action.
Many of the essential oils listed above should not be used on children. It is important to check safety data before using any essential oil. Oregano oil and red thyme oil should not be used at all. All essential oils, including tea tree should only be used by children on an "as needed" basis, and must be properly diluted.
Essential oils can be used both to rid the scalp of lice when an infestation is present and as a preventative measure when there is a potential threat.
To rid the scalp of lice the essential oils must be diluted in a vegetable oil or alcohol. Vegetable oil may be the best choice for smothering lice and to soothe scalp that may be sore or itchy from infestation.
Olive oil or vodka is fine if you have it on hand. Sweet almond oil, jojoba or grape seed oil are other good choices.
4 TBS (2oz) vegetable oil (or vodka)
1 tsp castor oil (optional)
20 drops tea tree oil
Blend well. Have child sit on a chair in the bathtub. Apply mixture to scalp and hair. Use only the necessary amount to make sure entire scalp and hair is coated. Cover with plastic shower cap. Leave on for several hours. Then wash and condition hair. Comb hair thoroughly with nit comb. Then rinse hair with the following rinse.
1-quart warm water
¼ cup cider vinegar
2-5 drops tea tree oil
Shake well to disperse essential oil. Pour over clean hair. Do not rinse out. When hair dries, saturate a nit comb with tea tree oil and re-comb.
Lice can remain alive for up to 72 hours after they have left the human host. Re-infestation can occur if lice remain on pillows, bed linen, combs, clothes and towels. Completely wash all clothing and bedding. One teaspoon of tea tree oil can be added to each wash load. A few drops can be added to a washcloth and placed in the dryer with clothes and bedding. Dry on hottest setting available.
During the weeks following lice infestation use the following shampoo formula. Add 2-4 drops of tea tree oil to your normal amount of shampoo for one use. Leave shampoo in for five minutes before rinsing out. Finish with final rinse. Comb with nit comb.
To prevent lice from infesting your child's hair, especially if there is a potential threat, several precautions can be taken. The shampoo and rinse formula described above can be used for precautionary measures. Another quick method to deter potential lice infestation is to dab a few drops of tea tree oil on your fingertips and run your finger through child's hair.
Warn your child about head to head contact with other children. Advise them not to share hats, helmets, brushes and hair accessories. If they are in day care or elementary school get in a habit of checking their scalp for nits on a regular basis. Early detection will allow quicker relief with fewer side effects such as itching and scabbing.
Tea tree oil is known as a "first aid kit in a bottle". If you keep a bottle on hand for possible lice infections, you will soon discover it's many other uses and benefits.

Cut it off- This is perhaps the quickest way to handle a skin tag problem. But this method is not for the weak-kneed.
  1. Take a pair of scissors OR fingernail clippers and disinfect them with alcohol.
  2. Liberally rub rubbing alcohol on your skin tag.
  3. Snip it from the base and then cover with a band aid to help stop the bleeding.
The problem with this method is that there is no guarantee that it won't grow back in a week or so.
Using Fingernail Polish to remove a skin tag- This is another popular method to removing a skin growth. The idea is to starve it of oxygen. Another variation of this method is to use duct tape as well.
  1. Take some clear fingernail polish and thoroughly cover the skin tag.
  2. Let dry.
  3. Repeat the process 2 times a day until the tag shrinks up and falls off.

A diabetes food list helps people living with diabetes understand foods that help maintain the blood sugars within the target range. They will also help to reduce hyperglycemia.
There is a ton of information out there about what makes up a diabetes food list. It's OK to follow these. But I recommend just using them as a guideline that will help you to adapt healthy food choices.
Here are some of the current recommendations on how to eat healthy while living with type 2 diabetes:
Create your plate
The American Diabetes Association recently did away with the diabetes food pyramid and adapted the "create your plate." This is a strategy that makes it less overwhelming for someone just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes to get straight into action planning healthy meals.
So here are the steps to create a plate:
  • Take a standard sized dinner plate.
  • Divide it into three sections. Start by dividing in half. Then divide one of the halves in two. There you have three sections. Since it is divided into three sections, one section will be larger.
  • On the larger section of the plate, place you non-starchy vegetables such as broccoli, greens, lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes etc.
  • On one of the smaller sections, place your starchy foods like rice (preferably brown rice), grains, corn, pasta, beans etc.
  • On the other small section place a serving of meat or a meat substitute such as turkey, chicken, fish etc.
  • On the side you may add an 8 oz. serving of milk. Or if you are lactose intolerant like a number of adults are, you can have some almond, soy or coconut milk. Water also works just fine.
  • Then a small serving of fruit. Preferably fresh fruit.
You have created your plate
Carbohydrate Counting
One of the important strategies for a person living with type 2 diabetes is to know the amount of sugars they are eating. This will help to reduce the complication of hyperglycemia.
Up till the mid 1990s, carbohydrates were touted as being bad for anyone with diabetes. Now we know that to not entirely be the case. Naturally everything, including carbohydrates, must be eaten in moderation.
A great tool is carbohydrate counting or "carb counting" as it is popularly called.
The strategy is to round up the total amount of carbohydrates that you are allowed in a day. And divide this equally among your meals - including snacks.
One of the advantages of carbohydrate counting is that it reduces the tendency for the blood sugar levels to fluctuate. This helps to prevent huge swings in insulin levels that could lead to fluctuations in blood sugar levels.
If you plan to use carbohydrate counting exclusively, then you may need the assistance of a nutritionist. They will help to customize a meal plan for you.
A good place to start is between 45-60 grams of carbohydrates per day.
Remember that carbohydrates are in starchy foods like breads, grains and pasta. They are also in fruits and vegetables, milk products.
Reading food labels makes it easier to measure how much carbohydrates you are getting in a meal.
What are Diabetes Super Foods?
The American Diabetes Association has a list of ten super foods that it recommends. I love the way that certain foods get tagged as "super foods."
Just as I like to point out, these "super foods" should be a part of the diet of anyone looking to live healthy.

1.) For immediate relief, try using a hairdryer to blow warm air into the affected ear. The warm air will soothe the pain that's inside. This method is particularly effective when the person is suffering from Swimmer's Ear.
2.) If earache-affected person is suffering from an infection, garlic oil is recommended for curing the condition. Gently warm a few drops of garlic oil first, then pour it down the affected ear canal. The garlic oil will cleanse the ear, soothe the pain and will also help fight the infection.
3.) Earwax can also be the cause of earaches, due to an excessive buildup of the substance inside the ear canal. In order to cure this, you can use a Hydrogen Peroxide solution. Pour a few drops of it inside the ear, then lie down on the side for it to dissolve the earwax. After a few minutes, when it feels like the process is complete, drain the solution and the dissolved earwax into a piece of tissue paper.
4.) Heat pads and warm towels can also help in soothing earaches. Simply place a heat pad or a towel soaked in warm water against the affected ear.
These are just some methods that you can use to bring relief for your earaches. However, there are many cures for earache, each for different types of earaches.
Do take note that the above remedies do not serve as a cure for all types of earaches (e.g. Hydrogen Peroxide does nothing for ear infections)

How to Control Dust Mite Allergy

At least 12 million Britons now suffer from allergies caused by dust mites according to the charity Allergy UK. They carried out a small survey among 1,600 allergy sufferers. According to that, the most popular allergies are house dust mites at 57.6%, followed by pets (45.2%), cleaning products (31.2%) and mould (30.9%).
· 58.9% of indoor allergy sufferers found their symptoms were worse in the bedroom.
· The average bed harbours 2 million dust mites and the average pillow doubles in weight over a period of six months due to dust mites faeces
· 16% of allergy sufferers said they wash bed linen every three weeks or less often, and 58% of those surveyed said they are washing at 30 or 40 degrees.
· 13% of allergy sufferers have had their current mattress for 11 years or more, and 3% kept theirs for 20 years or longer.
Mites are found in bedding, carpets, soft furnishings and clothing. Each mite produces about 20 of these waste droppings every day and the droppings continue to cause allergic symptoms even after the mite has died.
Controlling house dust mite allergens
1. Clean Regularly.
2. Wash Bedding Regularly. Putting your bed sheets through a 140°F (60°C) wash is usually enough to kill them and remove their fecal matter and skin particles.
3. Use an Anti-Allergy Mattress and Mattress Cover. Estimates as to how many dust mites actually live in an average mattress vary wildly from 10,000 to over a million.
4. Don't Make Your Bed in the Morning. This gives the moisture excreted from our bodies time to dry.
5. Get Rid of Feather Pillows and Duvets. Try using hypoallergenic synthetic pillows and duvets instead. They provide a less cosy environment for them and you can blast them through the wash at 140°F (60°C) which is the magic temperature for killing the mites.
6. Replace Carpets with Hard Flooring. Like beds and soft furnishings, carpets are a paradise for these microorganisms. Carpets trap dead skin and pet dander which the mites feed on.
7. Control Temperature and Humidity. Dust mites love living in an environment where the temperature is between 75°F and 80°F (24°C and 27°C) and the relative humidity is around 70% to 80%. Anything outside this range won't necessarily kill them but will push them outside their comfort zone and slow down their breeding. Set the temperature inside your house to no higher than 70°F (21°C). Anything lower than 70% relative humidity reduces their reproductive rate. Try to keep relative humidity in your bedroom and home to less than 50%.
8. Keep Pets Out of the Bedroom. Dust mites love pet dander. Make pets sleep outside or in the garage if possible and limit their indoor freedom to one or two rooms. Make an extra effort to keep pets out of the bedroom.
9. Get Rid of Curtains, Cushions and Soft Furnishings. Curtains and soft furnishings are a dust mites paradise. Fabric traps the dust and moisture which they feed on and shields them from potential threats. Replace curtains with easy-to-clean blinds.
10. Use a Steam Cleaner. Steam cleaners are a great way to clean items and objects that aren't suitable for a washing machine. You can use them on carpets, curtains, cushions, kitchen/bathroom surfaces and a thousand other places. The steam kills bacteria, dissolves dirt and yes, kills dust mites.

What is a Hiatal Hernia?
When you swallow, your food passes down a long tube known as the esophagus into the stomach. This tube must pass through a muscle known as the diaphragm, which is located near the bottom of your rib cage.
This opening in the diaphragm, which permits the esophagus to pass through, is regulated by a sphincter muscle (or "valve"), which relaxes and opens, when we swallow, to permit the food to pass through the diaphragm and into the stomach. This sphincter or valve closes to prevent stomach acid from coming back up into the throat.
A hiatal hernia-acid reflux occurs when the top of the stomach rolls or slides up into this opening and becomes stuck there.
Naturally, when part of the stomach is forced up into the
diaphragm the sphincter muscle cannot close properly.
Thus, stomach acid may travel back up into the esophagus causing burning sensations (heartburn), esophageal spasms, inflammations and ulcers. (known as the Acid Reflux)
Your diaphragm is a muscle. The diaphragm has three large openings for passage of the aorta, esophagus, and vena cana. When you don't use your diaphragm to breathe, it weakens, and becomes flaccid.
This allows your stomach to be pushed through your diaphragm by gas pressure in your digestive tract in what is known as a hiatal hernia. The resulting pain is often confused for the onset of a heart attack.
A flaccid diaphragm most often results from chest breathing or shallow breathing.
The digestive tract has a series of one way valves to keep food material moving in the correct direction: the esophageal valve in the esophagus, a sphincter muscle valve between the esophagus and the stomach. The pyloric valve between the stomach and the small intestine, the ileocecal valve between the small intestine and the large intestine, and the Houston valve in the descending colon.
When one or more of these valves malfunctions, pressure from gas in the intestines may force food material to back up, pushing stomach acid into the esophagus.
The interesting discovery that we made with our studies in kinesiology was the relationship between these valves and the diaphragm muscle.
The valves generally do not malfunction as long as the diaphragm muscle remains strong and in balance. Once the diaphragm muscle weakens one or more of these valves may malfunction leading to a hiatal hernia and/or acid reflux.
Once the causes of mock heart attack (hiatal hernia) and acid reflux are properly identified, the preferred treatment becomes apparent. Both conditions can be corrected by doing diaphragmatic breathing exercises that both strengthen the diaphragm muscle and force the stomach down and out of the diaphragm.
Technique in Practicing Using The Diaphragm
1. Place your hand on your stomach
When you take an in-breath your stomach goes out.
2. When you release your breath your stomach goes in.
This may be difficult to do at the beginning.
To practice, you can lie on your back and put a book on your stomach. Concentrate with your in-breath pushing the book up and letting it fall when you release your breath.
This exercise can be done on the spot in whatever position you happen to be, standing, sitting, or lying down.
What I have discovered is that when I went to bed at night and did not feel very well, I would put my hand on my stomach and concentrate when taking an in breath to push my stomach out and feel it relax when I let my breath out. I would do this slowly.
The ultimate answer is learning to breathe with your diaphragm all the time. This involves regular practice of diaphragmatic breathing, and a continuing consciousness of how you are breathing.
As you continue this over a period of time, diaphragmatic breathing will become automatic.
A further benefit of diaphragmatic breathing is improved airflow into the lower parts of the lungs and better oxygenation
Once again we have found that helping your body to heal itself through muscle and energy balancing often provides satisfactory results in the long run.
Proper diaphragmatic breathing is important for our overall well-being. Proper diaphragmatic breathing assists us to properly oxygenate our body, particularly during physical exercise, reducing chronic fatigue due to shallow breathing.
It also helps us to maintain proper muscle tone in our diaphragm. This in turn helps us to hold our abdominal organs in the proper position and to reduce abdominal and chest pains. This is often helpful after eating to reduce gastronomic distress.
Another important feature of the Barhydt basic balances is that they always drive the body-mind toward equilibrium (or balance).
A person cannot harm himself or herself by doing these balancing exercises. Just do the exercise if you feel it may be helpful; it generally takes just a few seconds in any case. This makes basic balancing exercises appropriate for self-help.
Another benefit I have discovered when I learned to breathe using my diaphragm is that I can eat most anything like tomato-based foods (ketchup, spaghetti sauce), citrus fruits, mint, and even chocolate within moderation.
